Beckett is Seven Months Old

This kid. Why must he insist on growing so quickly?!
We made handprint ornaments for the grandparents a week or so before Christmas, as one does for baby's first Christmas. They all cracked and looked horrible, so we made a new batch to send off, maybe a week ago. You guys. The difference in the size of the original and the redo...insane. It was a month and Beck's little handprint was practically double in size!!

Beck's seven month birthday was last week, and it seems like just before that day he started doing so much more. He actually plays now... he loves these shaker blocks and will sit and shake them for hours ten minutes. That's like forever!

Seven Month Stats
23.7 lbs (99%) | 28.5 inches (91%)

Major Milestones
First Christmas & New Year's
I can creep on my belly, in circles, sideways, and backwards until I'm wedged under the sofa.
I'm riding in grocery carts and sitting in high chairs.
I love taking baths in the big tub now.

Favorite Pastime
waving
saying "buh buh buh buh" and "ma ma ma ma" over and over
enthusiastically kicking legs, especially during diaper changes

I Love
Bath time
chomping on puffs and grapes
chewing on EVERYTHING
music with a beat I can dance to

I Could Do Without
sleeping past 5:30am
napping, unless someone is holding me
Honestly, sleep is overrated!

These two are so obsessed with each other! Z is always looking after Beck, making sure he has what he needs, wiping drool off his chin, picking up whatever he drops from the high chair. She even washes his back in the tub. And, sometimes, she is the only one who can get him to stop fussing. I can't wait to see how their relationship grows as they get older!

Snowpocalypse 2017

Hey gang! Happy New Year! (Is it too far into January to say that?) I've taken a break from worrying about this little blog (I scrapped three posts over the holiday break, including our holiday recap), so that I could enjoy the kids and the wee bit of time that Damon had off for the holidays. And also, we were all sick. Boo.

Despite a horrible cold spreading from one family member to the next (I got hit first, the week leading up to Christmas, then Beck on Christmas, then poor Z got it worst of all of us in the days after Christmas. The Hubs, so far, has been spared. I say "so far" because Beck has a faucet nose again this week, so it's only a matter of time before Damon drops, too.), we actually had a wonderful Christmas and New Years. My parents and brother and sister-in-law were here for our traditional low-key Christmas, and our New Years was just the four of us, lazy and relaxed...just the way we like it.

But it was the major weather event this past weekend that really made our holiday dreams come true, even if they were a bit delayed. You guys...IT SNOWED!!! It snowed bigly!! Originally, VB was forecast to get 14 inches, which had everyone in a tizzy. But in the end, at our house, I'd say we got about 6, maybe a little more. It's hard to know for sure, because it was blowing and swirling around like crazy. There was a blizzard warning, after all! It was amazing!!

We had been preparing Zoey, who loves snow as much as I do, for a few days. She was so excited, she actually cried on Thursday morning when she noticed the snow hadn't arrived yet. I'm not sure the Hubs and I slept much on Friday night because we were too excited, and kept getting up to see how much was falling. It sleeted most of the night, which actually made me angry. I was really hoping for some epic snow. And I guess we got close, by our Florida standards.
Despite the blowing snow, frigid wind chill temps, and improper snow day attire, we definitely made the most of it. (And rest assured, I'll be headed to Target to buy the kids some snow bibs, boots, and a sled as soon as they restock...which will ensure it will never snow again! haha!!) We went out a few times, while Beck was napping, and had so much fun that poor Zoey was nearly frozen solid. Snowball fights, building a snowman, hot chocolate by the fire, and some pretty deadly looking icicles. Not to mention a frozen pond behind our house, and Damon's first real chance to use the snow shovel he bought when we moved here.  I'd say we got our epic snow storm...I just hope we get one more before the winter ends.

Halfway to One!

Beck turned 6 months about a week before Christmas. I was sick as a dog! So sick that the Hubs had to take him to the pediatrician solo. The kid was in good hands, but I was actually sad to have missed it! #momguilt The good news, he's huge and healthy, and he waited until a few days later to catch my horrible cold. womp womp

Six Month Stats
21lbs 9oz (96%) | 27.32 in (76%)
I'm not sure of the exact measurement, but the kid's head is in the 99%, which explains why I have so much trouble getting some of his shirts over his huge head!
6-12 month or 9 month clothes & size 3 diapers (size 4 at night)

Major Milestones
I can sit up on my own!! (But I still can't roll from my belly to my back.)
I also discovered that eating off a spoon is awesome! More pumpkin please!
Now that I'm sleeping on my tummy, I'm almost making it all the way through the night.

Favorite Pastime
jumping in the jumparoo
laughing at my sister

I Love
music & dancing
my lovie, Woofy
watching people eat
chewing on tags, ribbons, & crunchy fabric
screeching like a pterodactyl
giving mommy kisses (aka sucking her face like a plecostomus fish)

I Could Do Without
spending more than two minutes on my belly

Mommy & Daddy Call Me
Bubba, Little Man (Daddy also calls me Zoey all. the. time.)

Mommy's Finest Moment
Beck often takes his afternoon nap on the sofa (where he'll sleep for an hour and a half or two hours versus only 30 min in the crib). I popped into the kitchen to grab Zoey a snack and heard a thud. Beck rolled himself off the sofa, landing on his belly on the floor beside where Zoey was doing a puzzle. Both of them seemed completely unfazed. Beck didn't even cry. I, of course, nearly had a heart attack. No more sofa naps!

Daddy's Finest Moment
I was wearing Beck in the Ergo, when we were unloading stuff out of the back of my car (a hatchback). Damon didn't realize where exactly Beck was, I guess, and he started to lower the hatchback, nailing the baby in the head. Luckily, Damon was moving the door really slowly, and I managed to stop him before any real damage was done. Beck fussed a little, but it could have been so much worse!!
