Finding
out you’re pregnant is one of the most terrifying/exciting experiences in a
couple’s life. For us, you can add confusing to that list. We had been trying,
though not for very long, and were fully expecting that it would take months
and months. On Father’s Day, I thought it would be sweet for The Hubs to find out
he was a dad, so I took a test. The results were...inconclusive. The line was
there, but barely. I mean barely. So we went on about our day with a
“better luck next time.” Turns out, the results weren’t so inconclusive. you
really can be a little bit
pregnant. We just didn’t know it yet.
Fast
forward a bit to the the week before July 4th. My family was
coming for the weekend, including my brother, and we had planned to make orange
crushes, our favorite! Just to be on the safe side, The Hubs suggested I
take another test. There was one left in the box, so early one morning, I took
it…again with inconclusive results. That stupid line was pretty faint and we
couldn’t decide if we were or weren’t. Best to try again, only this time, I
wasn’t messing around…I went digital. No more with the ambiguous results. Nothing that had to fade in, be it a line, plus sign, happy face, or pink patch of color. I wanted zero confusion. A simple, unmistakeable yes or no.
I got up early for work and did my
part, impatiently waiting for the stick to do its work. And there it was. A
clear, conclusive yes+ (in case the simple yes was not convincing enough, the
plus sign was there to reinforce the results.) Sweet Jesus! We are having a
baby!!! And I still had to tell The Hubs!
I waited as long as I possibly
could to wake him up. (It felt like an hour, but was only about fifteen
minutes!) I sat on the bed and woke him up, saying that I needed help reading
the results. He was so groggy, but seeing that yes+ immediately perked him up. Holy cow! We were having a baby!!!
