14 Weeks

Here is our first bump photo. It isn’t the greatest photo ever taken. I promise they’ll get better as we go along!

How far along? 14 weeks
Total weight gain: about 7 lbs
Maternity clothes? Just got the comfiest pair of jeans, but now it’s time for work clothes. Not sure how much longer I can pull off the unbuttoned pants with my Bella Band!
Stretch marks? No…hopefully never!
Sleep? Up and down, Tropical Storm Isaac didn’t help too much
Best moment this week? Announcing on Facebook. Such great feedback from our friends!
Have you told family and friends? The cat is officially out of the bag!
Miss anything? Still dreaming of sushi…JB rolls and Spicy Tuna. The salad dressing rolls at Whole Foods have been a yummy diversion, but just not quite the same.
Movement? Just gas bubbles
Food cravings? Subway or Jersey Mikes, orange sherbet, Edy’s strawberry Fruit Bars, and I’ve got to buy a bottle of Whole Foods’ ginger-miso dressing, cuz it is de-lish!
Anything make you queasy or sick? Sinus headaches and (randomly) gas bubbles are making me sick! Boo!
Have you started to show yet? Looking and feeling chubby! Some days I look 6 months pregnant!
Gender prediction? I still think the baby tuna is a girl, the Hubs insists it is a boy.
Labor signs? No
Belly button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or moody most of the time?  Happy …and tired
Looking forward to: Finding out the gender!! And feeling better so I can start exercising again.

13 Weeks

So, I'm way behind on this, but this past Wednesday, the Hubs and I went in for our genetic testing and ultrasound. This had the Hubs a little nervous, because that's kind of how he rolls, but I felt super calm, despite the fact that I was going to be stuck with a needle. And the fact that we heard the Gator fight song on the radio moments before getting out of the car, had to be a good omen!

Let's just say that the ultrasound was amazing! And the ultrasound tech gave us soo many pictures! The  Baby Tuna (because he/she doesn't have a real name yet) was pretty mellow that morning, but we did get to see a long arm (just like mommy!) and lots of great profile pics, showing a cute pot belly. The Baby Tuna also had the hiccups! It made it soooo real! I can't wait for the next ultrasound! I will never get sick of those!

I typed this up last Friday. I'm a little behind! :)

Are We?

Finding out you’re pregnant is one of the most terrifying/exciting experiences in a couple’s life. For us, you can add confusing to that list. We had been trying, though not for very long, and were fully expecting that it would take months and months. On Father’s Day, I thought it would be sweet for The Hubs to find out he was a dad, so I took a test. The results were...inconclusive. The line was there, but barely. I mean barely. So we went on about our day with a “better luck next time.” Turns out, the results weren’t so inconclusive. you really can be  a little bit pregnant. We just didn’t know it yet.

Fast forward a bit to the the week before July 4th. My family was coming for the weekend, including my brother, and we had planned to make orange crushes, our favorite! Just to be on the safe side, The Hubs suggested I take another test. There was one left in the box, so early one morning, I took it…again with inconclusive results. That stupid line was pretty faint and we couldn’t decide if we were or weren’t. Best to try again, only this time, I wasn’t messing around…I went digital. No more with the ambiguous results. Nothing that had to fade in, be it a line, plus sign, happy face, or pink patch of color. I wanted zero confusion.  A simple, unmistakeable yes or no.

I got up early for work and did my part, impatiently waiting for the stick to do its work. And there it was. A clear, conclusive yes+ (in case the simple yes was not convincing enough, the plus sign was there to reinforce the results.) Sweet Jesus! We are having a baby!!! And I still had to tell The Hubs!

I waited as long as I possibly could to wake him up. (It felt like an hour, but was only about fifteen minutes!) I sat on the bed and woke him up, saying that I needed help reading the results. He was so groggy, but seeing that yes+ immediately perked him up. Holy cow! We were having a baby!!!
